Nineteen12 Productions first professional show!
Nineteen12 Productions was formed back it 2012 with their first production, Rudyard Kipling’s, The Jungle Book. They have since gone on to produce 8 shows including titles such as, The Secret Garden, The BFG and George’s Marvellous Medicine. The 3 local creatives who run Nineteen12, Claire Brooks, Westcliff; Michael Rowley, Southchurch and Daniel Steward, Basildon; all have backgrounds in the performing or creative arts.
It was decided early this year [2018] to make the leap from amateur to professional with Oliver Lansley’s Holly and Ivan’s Christmas Adventure on the recommendation of Claire Brooks, Director. Oliver Lansley, the playwright, who is part of Les Enfants Terrible, an award winning theatre company renowned for creating original, innovative and creative theatre uses a combination of music, rhyme and puppetry to tell the tale of little Holly and Ivan.
Holly and Ivan’s Christmas Adventure, told entirely in rhyme and containing original live music, puppetry and acting tells the tale of two small toys who fall from Santa’s sleigh on Christmas Eve, as Santa’s sleigh flys off into the distance they must travel to find their child owners, Poppy and Archie. The play follows the toys across the North Pole, where they meet a friendly Eskimo, swim under the oceans lead by a Whale, across the Jungle with a Monkey, go into the desert with 3 camels and fly through the skies on the back of an Eagle.
The three strong cast consist of Harry Neal, Benfleet; Louise Banks, Leigh and Joe Jenkinson, Rochford. Michael Rowley, Nineteen12’s producer, says "It’s its such a privilege to use such great local talent to produce this beautiful Christmas play." Claire Brooks, Director and creative designer has a passion for children’s theatre and a deep interest for puppet making, having trained with industry professionals.
