Set in the sixties, it reflects the times. If you want to shock your Aunt Edna or any family member for that matter with outrageous non-PC comedy, then this is the play for you. It is a very funny, witty and highly energetic farce by Joe Orton.
Whilst the psychiatrist, Dr. Prentice, is trying to seduce his secretary (Geraldine Barclay), his wife (Mrs Prentice) arrives in her underwear, her clothes stolen by a young bellhop (Nicholas Beckett. Add to this an insane government inspector (Rance), and a dumb policeman (Match), then chaos and cross-dressing ensues, as the lunatics take over the asylum.
This farce has the sharp cutting wit of Orton mixed with social comment and a stab at the underbelly of the institutional establishment.
