FULL CAST CONFIRMED FOR

STEPPING OUT


Southend Theatres and Trafalgar Entertainment are thrilled to announce final casting for the brand-new revival of Richard Harris’s comedy, Stepping Out, touring the UK this year. Joining the previously announced Strictly star Karen Hauer and EastEnders actress Lucy Benjamin are Kerry Enright, Laura Tyrer and Sophie-Louse Dann

Stepping Out follows a group of mis-matched amateur tap dancers as they prepare for a charity gala performance. Proving ordinary people can do something extraordinary this delightful theatrical experience shows that a series of missteps and mishaps can lead to something truly special.  
This brand-new production is recently updated by Richard Harris, with the themes of friendship and resilience still very much in the spotlight. It promises an uplifting night of theatre, as we follow the group on their journey which is packed with humour, warmth, and relatability.  

Alan Burkitt will choreograph the production. Alan’s choreography credits include national tours of ‘Giovanni and Anton’, Fascinating Aida and he also spent nine years choreographing Strictly Come Dancing meaning Stepping Out represents something of a reunion for him and Karen. In addition to being a choreographer, Alan is a director, Actor, and award-winning Tap-Dancer. Beyond his work on Strictly, his career encompasses West-End productions including Top Hat, Singin’ in the rain and Kiss Me Kate.

Sophie-Louse Dann’s illustrious and varied career encompasses opera, tv, radio, film and stage. West-End highlights include originating the role of Celia in Gary Barlows’ The Girls and also Lend Me a Tenor, both of which earned her an Olivier Award Nomination. Sophie also spent 3 years in Wicked, as well as Made in Dagenham and Bend it like Beckham. She played Mme Thenardier in the UK tour of Les Misérables and as well as numerous TV credits, she was also a soloist on the iconic BBC Radio concert programme Friday Night is Music Night for 6 years.

Laura Tyrer’s previous West End credits include Chicago, Matilda, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, From Here to Eternity, Cabaret, Spamalot and Ruthless!

Kerry Enright’s West End credits include hit musical, Just For One Day and she spent 8 years with Wicked, her other theatre credits include La Rosa in the original cast of Sister Act at the London Palladium; and Girl’s Night UK tour.

This completes the cast which also includes the previously announced Carli Norris (EastEnders), Wendy Mae Brown (Waitress), Ben Stock (Grease West End), Felicity Duncan (The Death of Bunny Munro, Sky) and Devon-Elise Johnson (Half a Sixpence, West End, Titanic the Musical UK tour). 

Chris Jordan will direct, design by Julie Godfrey, produced by Eastbourne Theatres Productions for Trafalgar Entertainment Lighting by Ryan Tate and Sound design Charlie Tipler.
