Charles Dickens' Christmas Carol is having a drag makeover in Southend this December with a brand new comedy, A Christmas Carole. From the producers of Death Drop - the five star, smash hit, hilarious West End drag murder mystery - audiences can expect raucous drinking, Christmas hits and family arguments all wrapped-up in a Christmas bow of camp and outrageous drag! A Christmas Carole will have it’s world premiere at Southend’s Palace Theatre from 16 December – 24 December.
Tickets are available now from Southendtheatres.org.uk/Online/tickets-a-christmas-carole-southend-2022
This brand-new play is written by comedy legend and Britain's Got Talent sensation Myra DuBois. A Christmas Carole takes the classic Charles Dickens story and wraps it up in the tinsel-strewn nostalgia of British Christmases.
It’s Christmas Eve 1988, and disco is dead. The embittered, washed-up, one-hit wonder CAROLE SINGER is still reaping the ever-diminishing returns of her 1976 Christmas hit Disco Christmas (Sleigh Bells Slay). Carole’s deep-rooted hatred of Christmas explodes in resentful rage at all around her. It takes a haunting from four glamourous ghosts to show Carole what fate awaits if she doesn’t change her ways. But will Ms Carole Singer listen?

TuckShop Creative Director and Producer Christopher D. Clegg said “To be creating another TuckShop Original show with the wonderful team at Trafalgar Entertainment is so exciting, and nothing screams out for the drag treatment more than Scrooge! Myra Dubois has kindly and humbly (for a large fee) offered her words and wisdom to create a hilarious retelling of the Dickens classic, with the drag twist only TuckShop can give!”
