THE BILLY JOEL SONGBOOK
PERFORMED BY ELIO PACE
AND HIS BAND
Palace Theatre, Westcliff on Sea
19th September 2018
"Everything about The Billy Joel Songbook is sheer perfection. We can only marvel at Elio Pace's talent" Robert Lindsay
In 2013 and again in 2014, Elio was invited to ‘fill Billy Joel’s shoes’, starring in five very special reunion concerts in the USA with Joel’s original 1971-72 touring band, recreating the historic WMMR Sigma Sounds live recordings.

This incredible honour inspired Elio to fulfil a lifetime ambition of creating a theatre show showcasing the wonderful songbook of the six-time Grammy award winner, Billy Joel.

And so, 'THE BILLY JOEL SONGBOOK performed by ELIO PACE and his band’ was born.

Elio took to the road in 2014 with the FIRST EVER Billy Joel Songbook national theatre tour anywhere in the WORLD, enthralling audiences at 70 venues around the UK and Ireland. In 2015, Elio and the band were featured by Sky Sports in their BAFTA-winning TV and online coverage of the 2015 Ashes cricket tournament with a specially re-written version of Billy Joel’s ‘We Didn’t Start The Fire’. By 2016, in only its third year, The Billy Joel Songbook was playing to packed houses across the country, selling-out, not only one but sometimes two nights in a row at the same venue, with some venues asking for a third.

This incredible success continued for a fourth year in 2017 with yet another mammoth 70-date UK & Ireland tour as well as travelling to mainland Europe for the first time for a hugely successful national tour of Holland.

The success of The Billy Joel Songbook went up another level in May 2018 when Elio introduced the Billy Joel ALBUMS SHOWS tour; a brand-new series of, yet again, ‘never-done-before’ concerts featuring Joel albums in their entirety, one in each half of the show. For this debut tour, performing the albums, ‘Glass Houses’ and ‘An Innocent Man’, Elio and his band were joined by American lead guitarist, David Brown who played in Billy Joel’s band from 1978-91 and featured on those original classic albums.

Another tour of Holland is booked for November 2018 with Elio and The Billy Joel Songbook set to travel to other European territories and further afield throughout 2019. So this upcoming fifth UK tour of The Billy Joel Songbook in September/October 2018 will be the last chance that UK fans will have to see this sensational and critically acclaimed show in Great Britain for at least 18 months.

With Billy Joel choosing to perform a mere one or two international shows every few years, there are many fans out there that have never had the opportunity to hear his music live. 'The Billy Joel Songbook’, packed with over 30 of Joel's hits and fan favourites, will give everyone a fantastic opportunity to hear his wonderful songbook played and sung by the brilliant Elio Pace and his magnificent 6-piece band.

In 2015, Elio Pace and his band were featured by Sky Sports in their BAFTA award winning TV and online coverage of the 2015 Ashes cricket tournament with two specially re-written versions of Billy Joel’s ‘We Didn’t Start The Fire’.
