Lindisfarne have become synonymous with Ray Cooney productions in Southend.
This year the master of farce is celebrating his 70th year in the ‘biz’ this year and actually paid a visit to the Palace Theatre last April to see their production of his play “It Runs in the Family” and why is that? – well he is actually the group’s official patron and has recently gone on tour with his production of “Out of Order”.
Lindisfarne has produced “Out of Order” twice before both with sell out audiences.
“Caught in the Net” is the sequel to his nine-year long west end comedy hit “Run for Your Wife” and sees the return of hapless London cabbie John Smith. He is married twice, to a wife Barbara living in Streatham and to Wimbledon wife Mary. Fifteen years later, they now have a teenage son Gavin and daughter Vicki. Thanks to Facebook they are about to meet which spells CHAOS for John.
Comedy quickly ensues as he tries to prevent the two lovesick teenagers from meeting racing between the two flats and enlisting the help of his lodger Stanley Gardner to help manage the situation which has completely slipped out of control.
Performances are at Dixon Studio, Palace Theatre from Tues 11th – Saturday 15th April at 7.45 pm with a matinee performance on Saturday at 2.30 pm. Tickets are £14 and £13 available from www.southendtheatres.org.uk.
