COLLABRO
UK TOUR 2016

Cliffs Pavilion

4th & 5th March 2016
Collabro, the World's number one musical theatre vocal group who performed to over 55,000 people on their sell out UK tour earlier this year, has announced a new tour for 2016!  Since winning last year’s Britain's Got Talent, Collabro's diary has been a whirlwind of touring and promotion on a Worldwide scale!  The new tour includes 29 dates across the UK, starting in the Wirral at New Brighton’s Floral Pavilion taking in a date at London’s Royal Albert Hall on 26th March and then culminating on 3rd April at Guildford’s G Live.

The five-piece swept to victory on the ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent in June 2014 winning a £250,000 cash prize as well as a much-coveted slot on The Royal Variety Show.  They signed with Simon Cowell’s Syco Music & their career has gone from strength to strength here in the UK & Internationally.

They released their debut album ‘Stars’ which smashed in to the No.1 spot beating Ed Sheeran in the process and at the time being the fastest selling album for a debut act.  A Christmas released special edition of ‘Stars’ followed to further their domination of the charts.  A sell out 32-date UK tour at the beginning of year saw the band play in prestigious venues such as The London Palladium.

In June 2015 their second album ‘Act Two’ was released, charting at No.2 beaten only by Florence & The Machine.  In just one year the band have gone from being completely unknown to selling over 300,000 albums, making them platinum album recording artists!

COLLABRO are Michael Auger, Richard Hadfield, Jamie Lambert, Matt Pagan and Thomas Redgrave who first got together upstairs of a north London pub, having met through mutual friends and social media.

Less than five months after meeting for the first time, Collabro won Britain's Got Talent and the rest, as they say, is history.
Their first audition at the Hammersmith Apollo saw a standing ovation from all four judges: Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams. From that day on, they never performed without receiving a standing ovation. Simon even stood up again when Collabro performed at Simon Cowell's private birthday party!

I get to ask them a few questions just ahead of their Cliffs Pavilion Concert on Friday 4th and Saturday 5th March.
I love the way that you all got together via social media before entering Britain’s Got Talent.  Who was the one that initiated it though, and is there one of you who is kind of the ‘leader’?
Matt and Jamie knew each other and got in contact with the rest of the boys via social media. We all shared a love of musical theatre. We all take different roles in the group but if we were pushed to say who the leader was, we would say Michael because he is very organised.

How did you decide on what type of music you would perform?
We originally started singing lots of different types of music but felt all our voices really came together when we sang musical theatre so we stuck with that.

Is Simon Cowell as mean in real life as he is on the tv?
Not at all. He's so kind to us and really believes in us. He's especially become much more tame since he became a father.

What did you spend your £250,000 Britain’s Got Talent prize money on?
We all treated our families to different things and then bought ourselves a few gadgets that we'd always wanted!!

Would any of you like a solo career in musical theatre after Collabro?
We all would love to stand on a West End stage one day and we will all support each other if and when that day comes. For now though, we're going strong with Collabro as a group.

If you could play any role in the West End what would it be?
Tom - Jack in Into the Woods
Matt - Enjolras in Les Miserables
Rich - Sweeney Todd in Sweeney Todd
Jamie - Phantom in Phantom of the Opera
Michael - Link in Hairspray

As well as being fabulous singers, a few of you are also accomplished musicians, do any of you ever play during the show?
Jamie played the piano in our first tour but for our Act Two tour we leave the playing to the professionals.

Michael has said that he’d like to be a Blue Peter presenter - what’s the most daredevil/scariest thing any of you have ever done?
Michael would be a great presenter!  He has done a skydive and travelled the world with just a backpack and a map!
Jamie has climbed Kilimanjaro which is pretty daring.
Richard played rugby against England professionals- trying to tackle Mike Tindall is pretty scary.

You are kind of classed as a ‘boy band’, is that a term you are happy with?
Absolutely! And we do love the obligatory stand up from the stools at the key change!

Haha...so when you’re not performing, who do you like to listen to?
We all like different types of music ranging from pop to heavy metal so if you joined us in our dressing room backstage on tour, you'd hear an array of music genres.

I am sure you can’t get on all of the time - have you had any bust ups along the way?
It's really strange but we really haven't. We all understand each other's needs and that allows us to have loads of fun!

Your first tour was hugely successful - how’s this one going and do you have any favourite places/theatres that you are looking forward to going to?
We're loving this tour! The stage is bigger, the numbers have been re- worked and we are stronger as performers too. We can't wait for the Royal Albert Hall and of course Southend!!

Of course!  So what do you miss the most when you’re on tour?
We all miss our families but they're amazing and come and see us all over the country.

How to you decide what songs you are going to sing on tour?
We obviously sing all the songs from 'Act Two' the album but we wanted to bring back the favourites from 'Stars' and we've also included brand new songs as well so it's jam packed and has something for everyone!

Have you had any embarrassing moments on stage?
We have all had our fair share of almost falling down all the stairs that we have on the set so look out for that.

On your website there is an option to have a ‘random gift picked for you’.  What’s the most random gift you’ve ever been given?
Most recently we all received 'clogs' which seemed pretty random but the lady who gave us them was lovely and said we could put plants in them.

And finally, what can your fans coming to  Southend’s Cliffs Pavilion expect from your concert?
We loved the Cliffs Pavilion last year so we already know the space and so this tour we can be sure is going to be incredible! We have big, dramatic songs with a lot of showbiz plus get to know us between songs as we tell you stories about what we've been up to over the past year! And of course we will be singing our signature song 'Stars' from our number 1 selling album!!

Come and join us- we can't wait to see you!

Well, it would be rude not to really, wouldn't it?  If you would like to grab a ticket to see the guys in concert either on the 4th of 5th of March go online to www.southendtheatres.org.uk or call the box office on 01702 351135
