Concept Concerts Ltd are very excited to announce that Quadrophenia - the album, LIVE! Is set to tour theatres across the UK & Ireland throughout 2018 & 2019.
This storming show pays tribute to the emotive music of The Who, the biggest-selling and most powerful band in the world for decades. Produced specifically for the stage and appealing to all generations, with full-on sound effects as used on the original album and state-of-the-art lighting to enhance the performance.
The Goldhawks, a world-class, eight-piece band, fronted by Doug Freeman who is widely regarded as the world's greatest ever live tribute to Roger Daltrey, faithfully recreates the power, tension and visceral emotion of the music backed by a large screen showing bespoke film, archive footage and visual effects throughout the show.
This show captures a tremendous piece of Mod musical history for all ages to experience today and a chance for all who were or are still part of the phenomenal Mod movement to relive its glory. But don't be mistaken, it's also about the angst of growing up in this day and age.
To send you home on an even bigger high there are a few all-time classic Who hits to close the show!

Doug answers some questions from Southend Theatre Scene's Neil Lands
Hi Doug, so to kick off, how did this all come about… getting the chance to put the show on and tour the Quadrophenia album live?
I’ve always been a fan of The Who first and foremost and was the person who formed the tribute band Who’s Who from scratch leaving when it was at its peak. I was busy being an entrepreneur for a time but yearned to get back into music.
Did Roger and Pete give it their blessing?
We don’t know!
Have they seen the show yet, and if so, have you had any reaction from them?
Pete’s brothers Simon and Paul and Keith Moon’s mother family have seen me in Who’s Who several times. They absolutely loved us.
Reading up on your musical CV, you’ve been doing this a long time now, and it’s not just Roger Daltrey you can portray, you do a great tribute to Bruce Springsteen too. The music press has described you as ‘Bruce Springsteen meets The Who’. Would that be a fair comparison?
Way back when I was in my original bands performing my own songs a review of us in NME and Melody Maker performing at Reading Festival started that comparison. At the time yes, I was greatly influenced by them. But The Who were my favourite band in the universe.
Two truly great singers…. and large shoes to fill. Is that quiet a thing to live up to?
It’s a massive thing to live up to and I feel humbled when people review us and say every bit as good as the real thing. However, I could be only ever be second best to Roger. If I was a tenth as good as him I’d be happy.
Getting back to Quadrophenia, why do you think there is such an enduring interest in the album?
The music is perfection. Uplifting, sad at times, brilliant lyrics which are every bit as relevant to today’s youth.
Was it hard to replicate?
Absolutely. With a lot of brass and orchestration and not to mention The Who’s brilliant musicianship to capture it was indeed a hard task. They key was in getting the right band together. The band are truly world-class.
Any plans to take ‘Tommy’ on the road?
Yes. The tour is already being arranged and 70+ dates are already booked in 2019.
Were you ever a Mod?
Yes, I was for a time. It’s still my blood.
Tell me more about The Goldhawks, how did the band come about?
We evolved over a period of time performing other stuff in UK and Europe until one day it occurred to us we were all massive Who fans, why don’t we stage Quadrophenia and have ourselves a better time playing the best music in the world.
Is this your first trip to Southend… as you may not know, there is a large Mod following in the area?
Well, I used to perform the venues there in Who’s Who and gained a very big following but that was 15 years ago, I’ve no idea how things have been since but we’re very much looking forward to almost ‘coming home!!’
