Darren Day confirms appearance as a special guest star across select dates on the UK tour of Dreamcoat Stars, a concert featuring artists that have played the coveted role of Joseph in Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT.
Day, whose acting credits include Hollyoaks, Summer Holiday, The Rocky Horror Show, Footloose, Chicago and Grease, will currently appear in Stockport, King’s Lynn, Basildon and Clacton-on-Sea, as part of the Dreamcoat Stars 2023 spring tour line-up.
Darren’s career on stage and screen began in 1988 when he won BBC1’s ‘Bob Says Opportunity Knocks’, and in 1993 he landed the lead role of Joseph in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dream Coat, replacing the departing Philip Schofield, at the London Palladium. Day went on to play the role many more times in the West End and on UK and World Tours.
The musical extravaganza, which opened to sold out audiences at Chelmsford Theatre 2nd March, is currently playing a 60-date UK tour. It promises powerful star vocals from the nation’s most loved shows. Including: Joseph, Jesus Christ Superstar, SIX, Wicked, Phantom of the Opera, Mamma Mia, We Will Rock You, Jersey Boys, Les Misérables, Moulin Rouge and many more.
Darren Day will appear at the Stockport Plaza Wednesday 29 March, King’s Lynn Corn Exchange Tuesday 11 April, Towngate Theatre Basildon Friday 12 May, and West Cliff Theatre Clacton-on-Sea Sunday 14 May.

Darren Day’s career on stage and screen began in 1988 when he won BBC1’s ‘Bob Says Opportunity Knocks’, before his big break came in 1993 when he landed the lead role of Joseph in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat at the London Palladium. From the Palladium he went on to play Jesus on the official London cast recording of Godspell conducted by Stephen Schwartz at the iconic Abbey Road
Studios. Other theatre credits include the lead role of Pip in a musical adaptation of Great Expectations at Theatre Clwyd, Don in Summer Holiday (West End and UK Tour), Frank n Furter in The Rocky Horror Show (25th Anniversary Tour), Kashoggi in We Will Rock You (UK Tour), and Valjean in Les Miserables (West End).
Darren was one of the first celebrities to take part in the first ever – now infamous – ITV prime time show ‘I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here’, as well as being a finalist in Channel 4’s ‘Celebrity Big Brother’. In 2002, Darren secured a 6 month contract on BBC1’s daytime drama ‘Doctors’ playing the fiancé of US actress Stefanie Powers. Other television work includes Danny Houston in Hollyoaks (E4), Will Morgan in Stella (BBC), Jeff Slade in The Bill (ITV) and Jonathan in Mile High (Sky One).
In 2021, Darren played Billy Flynn in the UK tour of Chicago – a role he’s had his heart set on for many years and then in 2022 Darren played the role of Rev. Shaw Moore in the UK Tour of Footloose.

Keith Jack
Best-known for BBC1’s Any Dream Will Do where he came second to friend and fellow Joseph Lee Mead. His favourite Joseph song is the slow version of Any Dream Will Do; it’s the moment when Joseph meets Jacob for the first time in years.
“It’s a beautiful tender moment and really lets you listen to the lyrics of the song” says Keith.

Mike Holoway
Mike Holoway is a British musician and actor. He was the drummer and percussionist in Flintlock and at the same time became an actor, notably in the cult TV series The Tomorrow People. He made his first TV appearance with the Young Revivals - two years later they changed their name to Flintlock. Comprising Mike Holoway, Derek Pascoe, John Summerton, Bill Rice and Jamie Stone, the group made numerous TV appearances on programmes such as Blue Peter, Magpie, You Must Be Joking, Pauline's Quirkes, Fanfare and Top of the Pops.
In 2007, Flintlock reunited for a one-off gig. Mike Holoway was awarded the TV Times Personality of the Year award in 1976. Mike played Joseph at the Swansea Grand when he was 19, playing the role for 4 years touring the UK and West End along with featuring on the Cast album. Mike guest appeared with the show thereafter until 2006. Totalling over 4000 performances and spanning a 24-year period.
Jonathan Dudley
Jonathan trained at the prestigious Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts before
beginning a varied career in the West End. Some of Jonathan’s Theatre credits
include: Swing u/s Elder Cunningham in The Book Of Mormon (Prince Of Wales
Theatre) Prince Sebastian u/s in Andrew Lloyd Webber's Cinderella (Original London Cast) Boq u/s in Wicked (Apollo Victoria), Alternate Joseph in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (UK Tour) Wallace Hartley/Bellboy/Dance Captain in Titanic the Musical (Toronto Canada). Jonathan has been lucky enough to have performed all over the world as part of the Vocal Group The Barricade Boys and also appeared as a Student in the Les Misérables movie.
Chris Barton
Chris is best known for his television appearances on the hit BBC One show “Any Dream Will Do”, where he appeared as a finalist, singing live on prime time television for the nations vote.
Since appearing on television, Chris has played a number of roles in London’s
glittering West End and on national tours.
Some of his theatre credits Include: Joseph in “Joseph & His Amazing Technicoloured Dreamcoat” (UK Tour), Older Benny in “Her Benny” (Liverpool Empire), Original London Cast of Spring Awakening (West End), Sketch in “Hairspray” (West End), Rolf in “The Sound Of Music” (UK Tour), Chesney in “Coronation Street The Musical” (MEN Arena), Gavin in “It’s Only Life” (Brighton Fringe Festival), Dandini in “Cinderella” (Epstein Theatre), Lion in The Wizard of Oz (Arts Centre).
Chris is currently touring Australia and Asia with the Vocal Group sensation, Cantarè.
