Lindisfarne Players’ next production will be William Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet. They have invited Mike Clements and Pip Hazell from the Magic Space Theatre Company to direct this - one of the Bard’s most famous plays.
Mike says that most people will be familiar with the 'O Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo? '….and so on. He tells me, “Surely everyone can quote a bit of Romeo and Juliet and it is unlikely that any member of our audience will not know the story. Romeo and Juliet must be the most well known play of all time!”
He goes on to say, “Our plan is not to revive some dinosaur but to recreate it. We wanted to deconstruct the play focus on the set pieces and what it was Shakespeare wanted to achieve in them. Working experimentally hand in hand with the cast we have produced a fast paced, exciting and unpredictable evening full of surprises, comedy, violence, passion, beauty and ultimately tragedy. This production is not traditional and does not belong in any particular genre. We hope you will enjoy it. "
