Sharon Rose Interview
I went along to the Aldwych Theatre in London's West End to catch up with the super talented Sharon Rose. The last time I spoke to Sharon, she was in the middle of the X-Factor and was sworn to secrecy about whether she had got through or not. We now know that she left the competition during the 6 chair challenge but has gone on to successfully land a part in the award winning, West End musical sensation, Beautiful - The Carole King Musical. Sharon plays Little Eva in the show, the babysitter of Carole and her husband Gerry, who had a huge hit with The Locomotion. She is also in the ensemble and plays one of The Shirelles in the show, giving her the opportunity to show off some fabulous harmonies. A wonderful achievement for someone who not so long ago was appearing in local am dram shows and wowing Southend audiences with her debut performance as Deloris van Cartier in Sister Act at The Palace Theatre.
The Olivier, Tony and Grammy award-winning Beautiful - The Carole King Musical is now booking at the Aldwych Theatre to 29 October 2016 having recently released over almost 350,000 new tickets for sale.
Beautiful is the untold story of her journey from school girl to superstar; from her relationship with husband and song-writing partner Gerry Goffin, their close friendship and playful rivalry with fellow song-writing duo Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil, to her remarkable rise to stardom. Along the way, she became one of the most successful solo acts in music history, and wrote the soundtrack to a generation.
With a cast of 26 and an orchestra of 12, Beautiful features the Carole King classics including So Far Away, It Might As Well Rain Until September, Take Good Care of my Baby, Will You Love Me Tomorrow, Up on the Roof, Locomotion, One Fine Day, You’ve Got a Friend, (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman and I Feel the Earth Move, along with hits like You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feeling, On Broadway and Uptown from songwriters Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil.

In my interview with Sharon, she fills me in on how terrifying it was to be on the X-Factor's 6 Chair Challenge; how it was even more terrifying auditioning for a role in Beautiful and how she felt stepping out in front of a West End audience for the very first time!
