Ever wondered what's involved in a Gang Show? Well, wonder no more! Southend Theatre Scene went along to one of their rehearsals and had a chat to Tim Browne who is the Show Manager of this year's Gang Show and also got a sneak peek of the 'gang' rehearsing one of the opening numbers. Here's what we found out....
Hi Tim, can you tell us how long you've been involved with the Gang Show?
I've been involved in the show on and off since my first show in 1984. And this will be my third show as Show Manager. How many scouts and guides are involved in the show? There are over 60 on stage and more than that supporting the show. It's an honour to be at the helm. What can we expect? The show is a community show in the best sense, most of the cast don't belong to dance or drama groups and we try and give them the most professional experience possible. The Scouting motto this year is 'skills for life' and the show builds and develops these. Be it team work, organisation or to perform in front of others these skills are essential for working life. This show like those before it is a variety show full of songs (most of which you'll know) dancing and acting. It sounds great, we can't wait to see it! Yes, it's going to be a real family treat! |
Check out this great vid from the Gang Show rehearsal - with 4 weeks to go before opening night, we think they are well on track with some excellent performances!
